How-to: Soil preparation

Remember! Soil preparation is the most important!

You must prepare the soil both when sowing and when laying new turf. Every step of the soil preparation must be followed. Generally speaking, the turf needs a substrate layer of 10-15 cm for optimal growth. It is advised to use AGRO CS Intensive Lawn Substrate, suitable for rocky and clayey soil. If you cannot use a substrate, try to modify the soil so that it is a combination of earth and sand (minimum depth 12 cm). This can be achieved by using silica sand, which you mix with the soil.

How-to: Construction of a brand new lawn

• Remove all the remains of building material and stones.
• Level the ground to a tolerance of approx. 1 - 2 cm.
• Apply AGRO CS Intensive Lawn Substrate or sandy soil a dpth of at least 15 cm.
  Remember that it will settle 15 - 20%!
• Firm the soil whn applying the substrate.
• Level the substrate and water it througly (30 l/m²).
• After 2 days, restructure the area and use a garden roller.
• Check that the surface is leveled and that there is no unevenness.
• Water the substrate the day before laying, so that it is moist when laying the turf.
• Now you can lay the turf.

How-to: Lawn regeneration

• Remove all the remains of buiding material and stones.
• Use the non-selective herbicide (Roundup, Glyfoklasik) to kill all plant material.
• After two weeks, use a rotary tiller and add the silica sand. Then use the rotary tiller again to a depth of approx. 12 cm or cut off the old lawn with a turf cutter and make the soil more fiable to a depth of 8 cm.
• Add 2 – 3 cm of AGRO CS Intensive Lawn Substrate to improve the quality of the existing soil and mix it to a depth of 12 cm.
• Level the substrate and water it throughly (30 l/m²).
• After 2 days, restructure the area and use a garden roller.
• Check that the surface is leveled and that there is no unevenness.
• Water the substrate the day before laying, so that is moist when laying the turf.
• Now you can lay the turf.
